Experiment 2...

Latisha Thomas
Experiment 2
Does objects at rest remain at rest?

Objective:The main reason of this lab was to figure out if an object from rest would be the same or would it be diffrent from the force that is required to move an object constantly.

Hypothesis:I predicted that the force you put into moving the object from rest to greater is required more force then to keep the cart from moving.

Materials:
1-A spring
2-A cart
3-A Lumber Wood
4-A 8in string
5-A ruler
6-A 200(g)grams weight

Procedure:First we had ro tie the 8in string onto the front of the cart and then we had to tie a loop at the end of the string.

Then we had to put the 200 gram weight into the cart.We then had to make sure the srping scale was at 0, and we then attched the hook which was on the srping scale and attched it to the loop that was on the string.

We had to tug on the spring scale to keep the cart moving.I had to pull the cart across the table repeatedly to keep the cart going.

Data:Tug1-30(g)
Tug2-45(g)
Tug3-85(g)

Jerk1-20(g)
Jerk2-70(g)
Jerk3-40(g)

Constant Speed-30(g)
Faster Speed-45(g)

Conclusion:My hypothesis was true. It was true because their was more force required to moving the object from rest to greater. I learned that their are diffrent a diffrent type of force to you have to use.It all depends on the object.

Experiment 1....

Latisha ThomasExperiment 1
Do objects at rest really remain at rest unless acted upon by external foreces?

Objective:The whole reason for this lab report was to learn the Newtons laws of motion and to learn more of force. We had to do an experiment and we had to complete a lab to understand.

Hypothesis:I predict that the cart will move and it will roll over and fall when the ramp is pulled out from under it, and that it would be the same force required.

Procedure:First, We had to to put the ramp flat on the table, with it being 12" over the egde of the table. We had to measusre it to make sure that it was exactly at 12".

Second,we took the cart and placed it on top on the ramp which was on the table.

Third,Then we had to stand to one side and quickly pull(jerk)the ramp from under the cart.

Fourth,we had to do the same thing 4-5 times.

Data:
Trial 1-The cart didnot roll or move it just stayed the same.
Trial 2-Same as Trial 1.
Trial 3-Same as Trial 2.
Trial 4-Same as Trial 3.

Conclusion:My hypothesis was correct. The newton law stated that "An object at rest remains at rest" was true.Througout the whole lab the cart stayed at at rest.

Utopians Society Outline.

I. What is a Utopian society?

A. In my opinion I think a Utopian Society is a society where there is no crime and a place where everyone gets along.
1. Crime- People respect where they live and those around them.
2. Peace- People there treats others the way they want to be treated.

II. Has the concept of utopia changed over time and/or across cultures and societies?

A. I think that the Utopian have changed over time.
1. Cultures- Where people show respect to there country and that’s what they been doing.

III. What are the ideals that should be honored in the Utopian Society?

A I think that kindness and braveness should be honored of the people in the Utopian Society.
1- Kindness- Utopian People never were disrespectful and mean.
2- Braveness- They never were scared to show that they can make there society a good place.

IV. Why do people continue to pursue the concept of a Utopian Society?

A- I think that the reason why people try to pursue the concept of the Utopian Society because it is a crime free place where everyone gets along and other countries would like to be just like that.
1- Pursue-They still continued to do the right thing and made there society better and better.
2-Crime Free- They don’t make violence their number priority. They stay on the positive side and the Utopians think before they do things.

5-Yes I do think that it would lead to conflict.

V. What is the purpose and /or consequence of creating and /or maintaining a dystopian society?
A-I Think that the consequences is that people are going to start creating conflicts because its so crime free and peaceful.
1-Consequences- I think that they know what their society is going to turn out if they do start to become violence and conflicts in anyway.
2- Peaceful- They realize that if they stay peaceful how they are then their society will stay crime free.

7-I don’t think that we can reach the standards of the Utopian Society because people are going to do what they want no matter what consequences are behind it. I think that violence is always going to go on because of people decisions and what they are capable of doing.
