Experiment 1....

Latisha ThomasExperiment 1
Do objects at rest really remain at rest unless acted upon by external foreces?

Objective:The whole reason for this lab report was to learn the Newtons laws of motion and to learn more of force. We had to do an experiment and we had to complete a lab to understand.

Hypothesis:I predict that the cart will move and it will roll over and fall when the ramp is pulled out from under it, and that it would be the same force required.

Procedure:First, We had to to put the ramp flat on the table, with it being 12" over the egde of the table. We had to measusre it to make sure that it was exactly at 12".

Second,we took the cart and placed it on top on the ramp which was on the table.

Third,Then we had to stand to one side and quickly pull(jerk)the ramp from under the cart.

Fourth,we had to do the same thing 4-5 times.

Data:
Trial 1-The cart didnot roll or move it just stayed the same.
Trial 2-Same as Trial 1.
Trial 3-Same as Trial 2.
Trial 4-Same as Trial 3.

Conclusion:My hypothesis was correct. The newton law stated that "An object at rest remains at rest" was true.Througout the whole lab the cart stayed at at rest.
